Day 1: New Delhi
Around midnight arrival in New Delhi. The cosmopolitan city and capital Delhi is the main gateway for travelers. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Indo Vacations representative and transferred to the hotel.

 

Day 2: New Delhi-Bagdogra (by air) - Darjeeling
In the morning we drive to the airport for the flight to Bagdogra. After the arrival in Bagdogra we proceed north of the state through the coniferous forests and terraced tea gardens to Darjeeling. Darjeeling (place of the thunderbolt) has spectacular scenery. Due to its altitude of 2134 m and soothing temperature in summers Darjeeling has become a famous hill resort in India. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel in Darjeeling. In the evening enjoy the beautiful surroundings at Darjeeling.

 

Day 3: Darjeeling
Very early in the morning we drive to Tiger Hill (around 11 km) to enjoy the sunrise. Tiger Hill (2590 m) is the highest point in this area. There is a breathtaking view of the sunrise on the Kanchenjunga Mountains. Mount Everest (8842 m) is also visible on a clear day. The moments of sunrise from Tiger Hill are described by most of the visitors as unforgettable. After viewing the Tiger Hill we drive back to the hotel and after having breakfast we explore Darjeeling and its surroundings. In the evening we visit the village Lablong and the institute of mountaineering where we get the detailed information about the natural surrounding and the habitants of this area.

 

Day 4: Darjeeling-Manaybhanjang-Tonglu
In the morning drive from Darjeeling to Manaybhanjang. From Darjeeling Manaybhanjang is around 21 kms. We will start our trekking tour from Manaybhanjang. A near vertical climb enables one to reach Tonglu which is 11 kms away. It is situated at an altitude of about 9000 feet. Tonglu provides an excellent view of the Kanchenjunga range.

 

Day 5: Tonglu-Gairbas-Sandakphu
Today we start our trekking from Tonglu to Sandakphu. From Tonglu to Sandakphu the trekking involves many ascents and descents. From Tonglu to Gairbas the track is easy on a flat road. After having a small rest at Gairbas we will have a steep climb to Sandakphu. Sandakphu is situated at an altitude of about 12000 feet at the beginning of the Singelila ridge. It offers the best view of the Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga range. In the evening we reach Sandakphu and have an overnight stay there only.

 

Day 6: Sandakphu-Phalut-Ramam
Today from Sandakphu to Phalut we will have an easy trek. As one does not have to cross many ascents and descents. The trekking will be on more or less flat road on the Singelila ridge. The landscape is lifeless yet so beautiful. After having lunch and rest at Phalut we trek towards our today's destination to Ramam Valley. In the evening we will reach Ramam Valley.

 

Day 7: Ramam-Rimbik-Darjeeling
Today we will start our trekking to our tracking’s last destination which is Rimbik. Rimbik is a small village and has a hydro-electric power station. The track is more or less flat and meanders past meadows and small villages. In the evening drive from Rimbik to Darjeeling.

 

Day 8: Darjeeling
The day is free for leisure.

 

Day 9: Darjeeling-Pemayangtse (about 80 km)
Today we leave the state of West Bengal and drive through the forests and tea gardens and proceed to our today's destination Pemayangtse (The perfect Sublime Lotus) in Sikkim. Sikkim is the second smallest state in India. Sikkim, in the East Himalayas is sandwiched between Nepal to its west and Bhutan to its east. Sikkim has so rich of flora, fauna and a diverse ethnic and cultural population as no other state in India.

 

Day 10: Pemayangtse-Kechopari-Yuksom (about 133 Km)
Today after having breakfast we visit the headquarter of the Nyingama sect in Pemayangtse. Then we will drive further to Kechopari Lake. Kechopari means the wishing lake. The water in this lake is placid and crystal clear. This lake is situated on the road to Yoksum. After visiting the lake we drive to Yoksum, the trekking base of Sikkim. Enroute we come across some tea estates and coniferous forests. In the evening arrive in Yuksom. Yuksom was the first capital of Sikkim and it was here that the first Chogyal was consecrated by the three holy Lamas. The place where the ceremony take place in the year 1642 can still be seen there.

 

Day 11: Yuksom-Tshoka
Today we begin our trekking tour from Yuksom to Tshoka. On the way you will come across the sky embracing trees and meadows and meandering past huts. After a six to seven hours long trekking we reach Tshoka and have an overnight stay there only. Tshoka is a small village which consists of various small houses and a monastery.

 

Day 12: Tshoka
The day is free to have rest and explore the surroundings in Tshoka.

 

Day 13: Tshoka-Dzongri
Today we begin our trek to Dzongri. From Tshoka the trekking to Dzongri will be for about four to five hours. By the late afternoon you will be able to reach Dzongri. From the Dzongri Pass the view of the mountain ranges is heavenly. In the front you will be able to view the Kabur Dome and piercing the sky is the Mount Pandim. In the north you will be able to view Mount Kanchenjunga and the other mountain peaks. Overnight stay in Dzongri.

 

Day 14: Dzongri

The day is free to have rest and explore the surroundings in Dzongri.

 

Day 15: Dzongri-Tshoka
Today in the morning we begin our trekking from Dzongri back to Tshoka. Overnight stay at Tshoka.

 

Day 16: Tshoka-Yuksom-Gangtok
Today we return back to our trekking base camp at Yuksom. After a six to seven hours long trekking we reach Yuksom. After having lunch at Yuksom we drive to Gangtok. The capital of Sikkim 'Gangtok' lies on a ridge overlooking the Ranipool River. Gangtok (“High Hill”) lies at an altitude of 1760 m. Gangtok are surrounded by the mountains, especially from Kanchenjunga range. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel in Gangtok.

 

Day 17: Gangtok
Today we drive to the Enchey monastery. This monastery is believed to be 200 years old. The monks of this monastery belong to the Mahayana Buddhism. After visiting the monastery we visit the institute of cottage industries which is an attraction as a wide range of local handicrafts in Lepcha style are produced here. In the evening we visit the unique Research Institute of Tibetology on a hilltop which was established in 1958 to promote research on Tibet and Mahayana Buddhism. Here we will see the biggest collection of Tibetan scripts and an excellent collection of rare Tankhas, bronze and cult objects.

 

Day 18: Gangtok
Today we drive further to visit Phodong Monastery. Phodong Monastery which belongs to the Karugpa Sect (Karmapa) is situated about a kilometer uphill by a jeep able road on the North Sikkim highway. Phodong monastery was built by the chogyal Gyurmed Namgyal somewhere in the first quarter of the eighteenth century. After visiting this monastery on the same way we visit the Labrang monastery. This monastery was built about 100 years later but belongs to the Nyingmapa sect. After visiting this monastery we return to Gangtok in the evening.

 

Day 19: Gangtok-Kalimpong
Today we drive to Kalimpong. Kalimpong, a remote hill station has been a meeting point of the once "three closed lands" on the trade route to Tibet. The beautiful mountain scenery and the abundance of flowers have made Kalimpong an attractive resort. The lifestyle of the local people reflects the social and religious influences of its neighboring nations, Nepal, Tibet and Bhutan. In the evening arrive in Kalimpong.

 

Day 20: Kalimpong-Bagdogra-Kolkata
In the morning after having breakfast we visit the monastery of Tharpa Choeling at Tripai which houses a library of Tibetan manuscripts and Tankhas. It belongs to the yellow Hat sect. After visiting the monastery we drive to the Bagdogra airport for the flight to Kolkata. Kolkata is the cosmopolitan city and capital of West Bengal. Kolkata is the largest city of India. Kolkata is an extraordinarily vibrant and lively city. This city was once the colonial city of British in India.

 

Day 21: Kolkata
Today we explore this vibrant and lively city. We visit the Victoria Memorial and magnificent buildings in the area of Chowringhee and Dalhousie Square. We also visit the Jain Temple and the Fort Williams. In the area of Joransanko we have the opportunity to visit the family house of the famous Indian writer Rabindranath Tagore.

 

Day 22: Kolkata-Sunderbans National Park
In the morning from Kolkata we will drive to Basanti Port for Sundarbans National Park. From Basanti by a motor launch we will move towards Sunderbans National Park. "Sunderbans" means beautiful tigers. Sunderbans with their mangrove swamps covering around 2500 square km in the Ganga Brahmaputra delta spread across to Bangladesh. These are the largest estuarine forests in the world. This reserve has over 200 Bengal tigers, Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Monkeys, Snakes and Crocodiles. We will visit the park in a motor launch.

 

Day 23: Sunderbans National Park
We will have a full day cruise through mangrove creeks for wildlife viewing and bird watching.

 

Day 24: Sunderbans National Park-Kolkata
In the morning we will visit Ravindranath Tagore Society to see the rural development project. Return back to Basanti Port by the afternoon. From Basanti Port we will drive to Kolkata. Arrive in Kolkata by the evening.

 

Day 25: Kolkata-New Delhi
In the morning we will have a flight from Kolkata to Delhi. In the afternoon arrive in New Delhi. Rooms are available to get refresh before departing for the airport. The rest of the day at leisure. After dinner we leave the hotel for the airport.

 

Day 26: New Delhi Departure
Around midnight flight to home destination.

Day 1: Flight to India (New Delhi)
Arrival in Delhi airport meeting and assistance by our representative later transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 2: New Delhi
The day is at leisure either to have sightseeing in Delhi or for relaxation.

 

Day 3: New Delhi-Bhubaneshwar (by air)
Morning after having breakfast drive to the airport for the flight to Bhubaneshwar. Bhubaneshwar is considered the most sacred city in Orissa. Bhubaneshwar (The Lord of the universe) is now the modern capital city of the Indian State Orissa. Upon arrival at Bhubaneshwar, you will be transferred to the hotel. Bhubaneshwar had once 7000 temples that were built between 8th and 13th centuries.

 

Day 4: Bhubaneshwar-Konark-Puri
Today we will visit some of the finest examples of the classical temple architecture including Li ngraj, Rajrani and Mukteshwar temples and then drive through the tropical coastal area to the famous temples of Konark. Konark was once the centre of Buddhism in India. Now it is famous for the Hindu temples. The world famous Surya Temple is dedicated to God Surya (Sun). The King Langula Narasimha Deva built this temple in the 13th century AD. Surya temple of Konark represents the complete development of Orissian style and architecture that is the only one time example in India being the most beautiful without any counter piece. After visiting this temple we drive to Puri. Late evening arrival in Puri and transferred to the hotel.

 

Day 5: Puri
Puri is one of the four most important pilgrimage centres for Hindus. Today in the morning we visit the Jagannath temple of Puri. The temple of Lord Jagannath (God Vishnu), who is considered the preserver of the world in Hinduism, attracts thousands on feast every day, particularly at the time of 'Rath Yatra' (the car festival). The Jagannath temple is also referred as the white Pagoda and it accommodates 5000 priests in its premises. It's an experience to observe the activities of the pilgrims visiting this unique temple. It is one of the most sacred temples in India. In the afternoon we visit the Puri beach. The Puri Beach is also known as one of India's finest beaches. Puri Beach attracts millions of travelers to India with its strategic setting and religious importance.

 

Day 6: Puri-Tapta Pani (about 310 km)
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Tapta Pani. Enroute we visit Chilka Lake and roadside semi tribal villages.

 

Day 7: Tapta Pani-Rayagada (about 220 km)
In the morning we will drive to Rayagada. Enroute we will visit Desia Kondh Tribal Village in Puttasingh area. Then we will embark on a mild hiking on the Niyamagiri Hills to view the Dongaria Kondh Tribal hamlets. Return back to Rayagada and en route visit the Kutia Kondh Tribal village.

 

Day 8: Rayagada-Jeypore (about 220 km)
In the morning we will drive from Rayagada to Jeypore. En route visit Dongariya Kondh Tribe at Chatikona. In the evening we will visit market of Bonda and Godhaba Tribes.

 

Day 9: Jeypore
Today after having breakfast we drive further and visit Gupteshvar Cave and Dhuruba Tribal Village.

 

Day 10: Jeypore-Bhubaneshwar-Kolkata (by air)
In the afternoon we drive to Bhubaneshwar. Then we drive to the airport for flight to Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta). Kolkata is India's largest city and one of the biggest cities in south Asia. This city was earlier a colonial city of the British in India. Upon arrival transfer to hotel. Evening free for leisure.

 

Day 11: Kolkata- New Delhi

Today we will explore this vibrant and lively city during the whole day tour. We will visit the Victoria Memorial and magnificent buildings in the area of Chowringhee and Dalhousie Square. We also visit the Jain Temple, the temple of Goddess Kali and the Fort Williams. In the area Joransanko we have the opportunity to visit the family house of the famous Indian writer Ravindranath Tagore.

 

Day 12: New Delhi Departure
Early morning transfer to Delhi airport to take flight to home destination.

Day 1: Flight to India (Delhi)

Day 2: Delhi
In the morning we will have sightseeing in Old Delhi. Sightseeing of Old Delhi includes "Rajghat" where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated and Jama Masjid, the great mosque of Old Delhi. Today we also visit the famous "Humayun's Tomb" which is the first substantial example of Mughal architecture in India and "Qutub Minar" which is 71 meter high and was constructed in 1199. Before we proceed to the hotel we will drive through New Delhi where we will visit the India Gate, Government Buildings and embassies.

 

Day 3: Delhi-Shimla (about 270 km)
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Shimla. The British called Shimla the "Queen of Hill Stations." Shimla is situated in the northwest Himalayas. It was the summer capital of India before independence and now it is the capital of Himachal Pradesh. Shimla derives its name from "Shyamala", the goddess Kali, whose temple existed in the dense forest that covered Jakhu Hill in the early 19th century. Its well-developed facilities, easy accessibility and numerous attractions make it one of Indian's most popular and biggest hill-stations. In the evening we have sightseeing in Shimla and visit the Mall and Christ Church. Evening free to visit the local market.

 

Day 4: Shimla-Kufri-Narkanda (about 68 kms)
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Kufri. Kufri is a tiny hill station located near Shimla. It is famous for its trekking, skiing and hiking trails. Kufri is also famous for its nature parks and picnic spots. After visiting Kufri we drive to Narkanda. Narkanda offers a spectacular view of snow ranges, fields and apple orchards. It is situated at a height of 2708 meters on the Hindustan Tibet road. Narkanda is known for skiing and other winter sports. This place is an ideal retreat for the tourists who seek only seclusion in mountains.

 

Day 5: Narkanda-Shimla (about 68 kms)
Today we have sightseeing in Narkanda. There are various places of interest in Narkanda like Hatu Peak and Kacheri. First of all we visit Hatu Peak. Hatu Peak is about 8 kms from Narkanda. On the top of the hill an ancient Hatu Mata temple is located. This peak offers a wide view of the entire Himalayan range, dense forests, green fields and apple orchards. Then we drive to Kacheri. Kacheri is famous for the ancient Mahamaya temple. After visiting Kacheri we drive back to Shimla.

 

Day 6: Shimla-Manali (about 280 kms)
In the morning after having breakfast we drive to Manali. The landscape here is breath taking. One can see spectacular views of well-defined snowcapped peaks and wooded slopes. The Beas River rushes along its rocky course amid grassy meadows carpeted with wild flowers and wagtails hop along from stone to stone along the stream's edge. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers to various regions in Kashmir valley. It is known as the Switzerland of India. In the evening arrive in Manali.

 

Day 7: Manali
In the morning we will have sightseeing in Manali. Today we will visit Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashisht Hot Water Spring and Monastery. Hadimba Devi temple was built in 1553. This temple has a superbly crafted four-tiered pagoda roof and famous for it’s exquisitely carved doorway. Vashishth Hot Water Springs are the well known hot water springs. There are old temples dedicated to the sage Vashishth and Lord Rama. In the evening we visit a small Tibetan monastery which houses several Buddha images and Rahella Falls.

 

Day 8: Manali-Kullu (about 300 km)
Today we drive to Kullu, the valley of gods. Kullu is located in the charming Kullu valley in Himachal Pradesh and set amongst the lower reaches of the mighty Himalayas. Kullu is famous for its temples, apple orchards, and the annual Dussehra festival, all of which attract hordes of tourists. Kullu is also known for its handicrafts. Beyond the town's perimeter loom the magnificent greater Himalayas and the silver valley bisected by the Beas River. In the afternoon we reach Kullu. In the evening we visit the Raghunath temple.

 

Day 9: Kullu
Today we have a full day excursion to Manikaran and Naggar Castle. Manikaran is famous for its Sikh Gurudwaras and Sculpture Water Springs. Manikaran is the most sacred place for Hindus and Sikhs. After visiting Manikaran we drive further and visit Naggar Castle. Naggar Castle was built by Raja Sidh Singh in 1460. Naggar was the capital of Kullu for almost 1400 years. Naggar Castle has now been converted into a hotel.

 

Day 10: Kullu-Dharamshala
Today we drive through the lower mountains of Himalaya to Dharamshala. Dharamshala has one of the most spectacular settings for a hill station as it varies in height from 1200 m. to 1800 m. Dharamshala is a hill station which is split into two parts. The lower part is only known as Dharamshala and is about 9 kms away from the upper part only known as McLeodganj. In Dharamshala there is a strong Tibetan influence. The Dalai Lama settled here after the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959.

 

Day 11: Dharamshala
Today we visit the Namgyal monastery at Mcleodganj. This monastery is the major attraction in Mcleodganj and is located on the opposite side of the Dalai Lama's residence. This monastery contains large gilded bronzes of Buddha, Avalokitesvara and Padmasambhava. Afterwards we have a walk through Mcleodganj and visit the St. John church. This church has attractive stained glass windows. Lord Elgin, one of the viceroys of the British occupied India was buried in this church. Evening at leisure to visit the markets at Dharamshala.

 

Day 12: Dharamshala-Pragpur
Today we drive to Pragpur. Pragpur is the first world heritage site in India. The landscape is beautiful with a rich variety of flora, fauna, innumerable small monuments and an idyllic ambience for walks and picnics. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel in Pragpur.

 

Day 13: Pragpur
After breakfast drive to Bharwain. Bharwain is located at a height of about 4000 feet. From the roadside a narrow inclined path descends past terraced fields for about 1 km and ends on the bed of a seasonal stream with scree stones. After about 2 kms it will reach Chanota via Bhadyaru. At Chanota on top of a small hill, there are old and bandoned houses of Brahmins. Beyond Chanota across the stream there is a mud or stone road leading to Nalsuha. After crossing Nalsuha the road carries on to the Hamlet of Karoli, about 2 kms away. From Karoli the road goes to Har and joins the Pragpur road and the Judge's Court.

 

Day 14: Pragpur-Chandigarh
In the morning after having breakfast drive to Chandigarh. Chandigarh derives its name from the Chandi Mandir temple located in the vicinity of the city and a fort or ‘garh" beyond the temple, called Chandigarh. Chandigarh is a Union Territory, administered by the Government of India. The city was designed by Le Corbusier. In the evening arrive in Chandigarh and transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 15: Chandigarh-Delhi
In the morning we have sightseeing in Chandigarh. Today we visit the Rock Garden. This garden was completed by Nekchand. This garden was built with multicolored fragments of China and waste ceramics and covers an area of 6 acres. Along the way we visit the Secretariat and the Art Museum. In the evening we visit the Gulab Bagh and the Sukhna Lake. This lake covers an area of 3 square kms. The people take breezy walks along the banks of this artificial lake and there is provision for boating and yachting. In the evening transfer to the railway station for the train from Chandigarh to Delhi.

 

Day 16: Delhi
In the morning arrive in Delhi. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day at leisure (opportunity for the last shopping). After having dinner we leave the hotel for the airport.

 

Day 17: Flight to Home
Around midnight flight to home destination.

Day 2: Delhi

Today we also visit the famous "Humayun's Tomb" which is the first substantial example of Mughal architecture in India and "Qutub Minar" which is 71 meter high and was constructed in 1199. Before we proceed to the hotel we will drive through New Delhi where we will visit the India Gate, Government Buildings and embassies.

 

Day 3: Delhi-Chandigarh (about 270 km)
In the morning after having breakfast we will drive to Chandigarh. Chandigarh derives its name from the Chandi Mandir temple located in the vicinity of the city and a fort or ‘garh" beyond the temple, called Chandigarh. Chandigarh is a Union Territory, administered by the Government of India. The city was designed by Le Corbusier. In the evening arrive in Chandigarh and transfer to the hotel.

 

Day 4: Chandigarh
In the morning we have sightseeing in Chandigarh. Today we visit the Rock Garden. This garden was completed by Nekchand. This garden was built with multicolored fragments of China and waste ceramics and covers an area of 6 acres. Along the way we visit the Secretariat and the Art Museum. In the evening we visit the Gulab Bagh and the Sukhna Lake. This lake covers an area of 3 square kms. The people take breezy walks along the banks of this artificial lake and there is provision for boating and yachting.

 

Day 5: Chandigarh-Nalagarh
In the morning after having breakfast drive to Nalagarh. It is surrounded by endless acres of greenery and provides a panoramic view of the Shivalik hills beyond the Sirsa River. Nalagarh rises above a 10 acre estate of forest and orchard built on five levels, three of which have well manicured green areas. In the evening we visit the Ramgarh Fort and the famous Mughal Gardens at Pinjore.

 

Day 6: Nalagarh-Palampur
In the morning after having breakfast drive to Palampur. Palampur has beautiful snow views and is surrounded by tea plantations of the Kangra Valley. It is a popular place for walking. Palampur is located at a height of 1000 meters. The main attraction of Palampur is the Taragarh Fort. The Taragarh fort is located at the foot of the Dhauladhar Mountains with splendid views of surrounding snow capped peaks.

 

Day 7: Palampur
Today we visit the Sobha Singh's art gallery, a monastery, pottery institute and the tea estates.

 

Day 8: Palampur-Pragpur
Today we drive to Pragpur. Pragpur is the first world heritage site in India. The landscape is beautiful with a rich variety of flora, fauna, innumerable small monuments and an idyllic ambience for walks and picnics. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel in Pragpur.

 

Day 9: Pragpur
After breakfast drive to Bharwain. Bharwain is located at a height of about 4000 feet. From the roadside a narrow inclined path descends past terraced fields for about 1 km and ends on the bed of a seasonal stream with scree stones. After about 2 kms it will reach Chanota via Bhadyaru. At Chanota on top of a small hill, there are old and bandoned houses of Brahmins. Beyond Chanota across the stream there is a mud or stone road leading to Nalsuha. After crossing Nalsuha the road carries on to the Hamlet of Karoli, about 2 kms away. From Karoli the road goes to Har and joins the Pragpur road and the Judge's Court.

 

Day 10: Pragpur-Chandigarh-Delhi
In the morning after having breakfast drive back to Chandigarh. In the evening transfer to the railway station for the train from Chandigarh to Delhi.

 

Day 11: Delhi

In the morning arrive in Delhi. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to the hotel. The rest of the day at leisure (opportunity for the last shopping). After having dinner we leave the hotel for the airport.

 

Day 12: Flight to Home
Around midnight flight to home destination.

The Himalayas provide superb opportunities for trekking in a wide variety of landscapes. The Himalaya Trekking Tour will start from Manali and pass through Marrhi, Kunzam Pass, Rohtang Pass, and Batal.

Day 1: Flight to India (New Delhi)
Around midnight arrival in New Delhi. The cosmopolitan city and capital New Delhi is the main gateway for the travelers to India. Upon arrival, you will be met by our representative and transferred to the hotel.

 

Day 2: New Delhi
This day is at leisure either to have sightseeing in Delhi or for relaxation.

 

Day 3: New Delhi-Manali
In the morning after breakfast drive straight to reach Manali. Upon arrival, you will be met by an Indo Vacations representative and transferred to the hotel. Manali is situated near the end of the valley on the National Highway leading to Leh. The landscape here is breath taking. One can see spectacular views of well-defined snowcapped peaks and wooded slopes. The Beas River rushes along its rocky course amid grassy meadows carpeted with wild flowers and wagtails hop along from stone to stone along the stream's edge. On the other side are deodar and pine trees, tiny fields and fruit orchards. It is an excellent place for a holiday, a favorite resort for trekkers to various regions in Kashmir valley. It is known as the Switzerland of India. In the evening we have sightseeing in Manali. We will visit Hadimba Devi Temple, Vashisht Hot Water Spring, Naggar castle and Arjun cave.

 

Day 4: Manali-Marrhi (36 km)
Today we will begin our mountain trekking from Manali. From Manali we will trek towards Rallah Falls. We have lunch at Kothi. Then we trek towards Marrhi. Arrive in Marrhi by evening. We will spend night in Marrhi.

 

Day 5: Marrhi-Rohtang Pass-Batal
Today in the morning after having our breakfast we leave Marrhi. From Marrhi we will trek towards Gondla. We will also cross Rohtang Pass, which is situated at a height of 3980 m. Rohtang Pass is an adventurer's dream destination, situated at an altitude of about 4000 m. This pass is the gateway to the Lahual region from Manali. A trek to and beyond the pass makes a trekker's dream come true. Also, we could find a couple of stud farmers and their beautiful pets grazing through the lush green meadows. At the top of the Pass the air seems to glitter against the snow as we look down over herringboned ridges into the Lahaul Valley. There is a beautiful Doshohar Lake left to the pass, where pilgrims go every year on the auspicious day of 20th Bhadon. This is the only access to Lahaul valley. We have lunch at Gondla. Then we trek towards Batal. Arrive in Batal by evening. Batal is situated at the foot of Kunzum pass, which provides the main approach to Spiti from Lahaul. The panorama as viewed from the top of the pass is enthralling and inspiring. On the way are the Bara Shigri glaciers. Bara meaning big and Shigri meaning glacier in Lahauli dialect. The view of the Shigri Stream emerging from beneath a huge iridescent archway of solid ice is a never to be forgotten sight. The glacier is mountainous mass of solid ice, more than a kilometer wide and extending over a distance of ten kilometers. We will spend night in Batal.

 

Day 6: Batal-Kunzam Pass-Chandratal
Today in the morning after having our breakfast we leave Batal. Then we will gear up to trek 10 km uphill to cross the famous Kunzam Pass (4551 m). Kunzam provides chief access to Lahaul valley by the great Kunzam range. The lofty Shigri Glacier can be seen in all its grandeur. The Panorama as viewed from the top of the Pass is enthralling and inspiring. There is a temple dedicated to Kali, known as Kunzam Devi. Rahul was the son of Buddha and the name Lahaul is derived from Rahul. After visiting the temple we start trekking 12 km to Chandratal. A pleasant 4 hrs walk and the Chandratal will appear. Chandratal means the Lake of Moon. This lake of exquisite beauty is set on a large meadow of edelweiss between a lower ridge and the main Kunzum range with an outlet into the Chandra River. A beautiful view of the Samudra Tapoo glacier and of Mulkila range is obtainable. A majestic serene lake surrounded by mighty Himalayan peaks. On the banks of this enchanting lake there is a vast meadow, which is carpeted with hundreds of kinds of wild alpine flowers during spring season.

 

Day 7: Chandratal-Kunzam Pass
Today in the morning after having our breakfast we leave Chandratal and start our trekking again to return back to Kunzam Pass. Evening free for leisure and relaxation.

 

Day 8: Kunzam Pass-Manali
Today in the morning after having our breakfast we leave Kunzam Pass and drive back to Manali. Evening free to explore the local market.

 

Day 9: Manali-New Delhi
In the morning after having our breakfast we will drive to New Delhi. Evening free at leisure. After having dinner we leave the hotel for the airport.

 

Day 10: New Delhi Departure
Around midnight flight to home destination.

Ladakh means the land of high passes, also known as the land of endless discoveries, the moon land. Due to its nearness and resemblance to the Tibetan culture it is also called little Tibet.

Day 1: Flight to India (Delhi)
Around midnight arrival in Delhi. The cosmopolitan City and capital Delhi is the main gateway for travelers. You are met by an Indo Vacations representative and transferred to your Hotel.

 

Day 2: Delhi-Leh (by air)
In the morning a short flight brings us to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Due to its altitude (3500 m.) Ladakh is also known as the roof of the world. Leh was an important place in the historical times on the Silk Road to central Asia. The rest of the day is at leisure to acclimatize ourselves to the high altitude of Leh.

 

Day 3: Leh Excursion: Thikse, Shey, Hemis
Today we start our excursion by visiting the monastery of Thikse. Thikse is one of the most imposing monasteries in Ladakh. The monastery has 12 stories, 10 temples, a nunnery and 60 lamas in residence. It contains numerous stupas, statues, tankhas, wall painting and a large pillar engraved with the teaching of Buddha. We can also see here a collection of Tibetan scripts. After the visit of Thikse we visit the village of Shey on the eastern bank of the Indus. Shey was the royal residence and was located at an important vantage point in the Indus valley. It has a large victory stupa which is topped with gold. After the visit of the monastery of Shey we visit the monastery of Hemis. The rich monastery of Hemis is the biggest in Ladakh and is perched on top of a pleasant green hill surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery.

 

Day 4: Leh Excursion: Spituk, Phyang, And Choglamsar
Today we start our day by visiting the monastery Spituk. Spituk monastery (15th Century) is 8 km from Leh and is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Indus. Spituk valley has an enormous status of Kali whose face is unveiled once a year during the Spituk festival. This monastery also contains an ancient collection of masks. 135 yellow capped monks reside in this monastery. After the visit of Spituk we shall proceed to the Gompa Phyang which is a traditional monastery setting for a spectacular religious festival with masked dancing? There are 50 red capped monks residing here. After the visit of Phyang we have a stopover at the Choglamsar village where we have a look at that arts and crafts made by Tibetan refugees.

 

Day 5: Leh-Lamayuru
Lamayuru is 125 km away from Leh and is the oldest known Monastery (Gompa) which dates back to the 10th century and is overlooking the Indus River. This Monastery belongs to a Red Hat sect. Lamayuru is considered a sacred site for the Pre Buddhist religion known as the BON. There are renowned collection of carpets, thankas and frescoes. Overnight stay in comfortable tent camp.

 

Day 6: Lamayuru-Alchi
In the noon we drive from Lamayuru to Alchi through the exciting landscaping of Ladakh. Alchi has been declared as an UNESCO monument. The Monastery of Alchi is a large temple complex and is regarded as one of the most important Buddhist centers in Ladakh and a jewel of monastic skill. In the afternoon we drive to the Monastery of Ridzong which also has a nunnery. We have a walk here in the beautiful surrounding of this area. Overnight stay in comfortable tents.

 

Day 7: Alchi-Leh
In the noon we drive back from Alchi to Leh. Leh Palace in the NW has been described as a miniature version of Lhasa's Potala palace, with which this 17th century building is contemporary. This Potala (palace) rises up like mountain. From the town below it is dazzling in the morning sun and ghostly at night. We enjoy the wonderful view of the city and beautiful surroundings from the roof of the palace. This palace was built by the King Singe Namagyal and still owned by the royal family. At present is this palace not occupied as the royal family resides in the other palace in stock.

 

Day 8: Leh-Delhi (by air)
In the noon flight from Leh to Delhi. In the afternoon we visit Bahai Temple, also known as Lotus Temple which is built out of white marble and in the characteristic shape of a lotus flower. Bahai temples are 9 sided, symbolizing comprehensiveness, oneness and unity. We visit this unique building which gives the message of unification of the human race. The rest of the day at leisure.

 

Day 9: Delhi
Today we have the sightseeing in Delhi. We take a Rickshaw Ride parallel to the Red Fort through the old city and famous Silk Road and Silver Bazaar. Sightseeing of Old Delhi includes "Rajghat", the site where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated and Jama Masjid, the great mosque of old Delhi. Today we also visit the famous "Humayun Tomb”. Humayun Tomb is the first substantial example of Mughal architecture in India. Before we proceed to the Hotel we drive through the embassy area in New Delhi where we visit the India Gate and see some impressive Government Buildings. After the Dinner and refreshment in the hotel we will be transferred to the Airport.

 

Day 10: Flight to Home
Around midnight flight from Delhi to home destination.

Day 01: Arrival in Delhi
Arrive at the Indira Gandhi International Airport, meeting and assistance by our representative later transfer to hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 02: Delhi Sightseeing
After breakfast, full Day city tour of Old & New Delhi. Tours to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India - Built by Shah Jahan. Tours to the Red Fort, Visit Humayun's Tomb: built in mid 16th century this is an early example of Mughal architecture; Visit Qutab Minar, witness the India Gate, President House. The city tour ends with a visit to Laxmi Narayan Temple (Birla Mandir). Dinner and overnight stay is at the hotel.

 

Day 03: Delhi-Srinagar (By flight)
Morning we fly you to Srinagar. Here, you will be greeted by our representatives who will transfer you to the Houseboat. Afternoon is kept free for personal activities. As evening approaches, we take you for a Shikara ride on Dal Lake where you get to enjoy the sunset. Overnight is at Houseboat.

 

Day 04: Srinagar Sightseeing (50kms)
First half day is kept for tour of world famous Mughal Gardens paying visits to the Nishat Bagh (The garden of pleasure) and Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love). We then return to houseboat for a hot lunch. In the afternoon, indulge in a Shikara ride on the Dal Lake where you will get to enjoy the beauty of the city that is often compared to Venice. Observe and capture in your cameras the view of some very interesting places around the lake. Overnight at houseboat.

 

Day 05: Srinagar – Gulmarg – Srinagar (112kms)
Full day tour of Gulmarg - one of the most beautiful summer resorts of the valley. This place is also famous for its golf course-highest in the world and skiing during winters. Enjoy playing and skiing being amidst the splendour of nature and the snowy mountains as we have kept enough time for it. In the evening, we take you for a Gondola (cable car) ride from Gulmarg to Khalinmarg. Then return to houseboat. Overnight is at houseboat.

 

Day 06: Srinagar – Sonmarg – Srinagar (168 kms)
We engage in a full day excursion to Sonmarg, which is considered to be the most beautiful drive from Srinagar. Halt at many beautiful sports on the way. Continue drive to Sonmarg - Meadow of Gold located at 2690 mtrs. One can also ride on horse to visit to Thajiwas Glacier where snow remains all around the year. Sonmarg is also known as Gateway of Ladakh. In the evening, return to houseboat to spend the night in the Houseboat.

 

Day 07: Srinagar – Pahalgam – Srinagar (186 kms)
This day is spent on a full day excursion to Pahalgam located at a height of 2440Mts (Vale of Kashmir). On the way, visit Saffron fields, Avantipur ruins and Anatnag Sulpher spring. This place is a common site of film shoots for Indian Film industry. So, be there to enjoy the natural charm of the valley. In the evening, return back to houseboat. Overnight at houseboat.

 

Day 08: Srinagar – Delhi
Morning is kept free for shopping. Look out for the lovely handicraft items from the artisans, shop for hand woven carpets, pashemina shawls, paper-mache items and many other handicraft items. If interested the items can be directly reach to your native place, without any wear and tear. After lunch, in the afternoon, transfer in time to the airport to board the flight that takes you back to Delhi. On reaching Delhi, a connect flight takes you back home.
