Ladakh means the land of high passes, also known as the land of endless discoveries, the moon land. Due to its nearness and resemblance to the Tibetan culture it is also called little Tibet.

Day 1: Flight to India (Delhi)
Around Midnight arrival in Delhi. The cosmopolitan City and capital Delhi is the main gateway for travelers. You are met by our representative and transferred to your Hotel.

 

Day 2: New Delhi
We will start our day with the sightseeing in Old Delhi. We take a Rickshaw ride parallel to the Red Fort through the old city and famous Silk Road and Silver Bazaar. Sightseeing of Old Delhi includes "Rajghat", the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated and Jama Masjid, the great mosque of old Delhi. Today we also visit the famous "Humayun's Tomb" which is the first substantial example of Mughal architecture in India and "Qutub Minar" which is 71 meter high and was constructed in 1199. Before we proceed to the Hotel we will have a ride through New Delhi through the area of the Government Buildings and Embassies. Here we have a stopover at India Gate, the 42m-high stone arch or triumph. India Gate bears the names of 90,000 soldiers who died in the campaigns of the 1st world war.

 

Day 3: Delhi-Amritsar (about 450 km by train)
In the morning we start our train journey by Shatabdi Express and proceed to Amritsar. Amritsar (meaning pool of Nectar) lies in the northern state of Punjab and is famous for its Golden Temple. We visit the Golden Temple to know more about the native Sikh population of the state Punjab. Sikhs are meanwhile scattered in whole of India and are easily recognizable through their mighty colorful turbans.

 

Day 4: Amritsar-Dharamsala (about 200 km)
Today we leave Amritsar and drive through the lower mountains of Himalaya to Dharamshala. Dharamshala has one of the most spectacular settings for a Hill Station as it varies in height from 1200 m. to 1800 m. In Dharamshala, there is a strong Tibetan influence. The Dalai Lama settled here after the Chinese invasion of Tibet in 1959. There is a monastery at Mcleodganj a short distance along from the Dalai's Lama's residence. We have a walk through Mcleodganj and visit a Tibetan monastery, the church of St. John and a school complex.

Day 5: Dharamsala-Jammu (about 190 km)
Along the snow covered mountains of mighty Himalayas we drive from Dharamshala to Jammu. The city of Jammu is the second largest in the state and is the winter capital of the government. The old town of Jammu overlooks the river Tawi. In Jammu we visit the Baghunath Temple of the 19th century and Ranbireswar-Temple which is dedicated to God Shiva. We also visit the Dogra Art Gallery which is famous for its miniature paintings. Jammu is basically the Homeland of Dogra, the Rajput clan of the hill region N of the Ravi River.

Day 6: Jammu-Leh (by air)
In the morning a short flight brings us to Leh, the capital of Ladakh. Due to its altitude (3500 m.) Ladakh is also known as the roof of the world. Leh was an important place in the historical times on the Silk Road to central Asia. The rest of the day is at leisure to acclaim ourselves to this high altitude of Leh.

 

Day 7: Leh
In the noon we visit Leh Palace. Leh Palace in the NW has been described as a miniature version of Lhasa's Potala palace, with which this 17th century building is contemporary. This Potala (palace) rises up like mountain. From the town below it is dazzling in the morning sun and ghostly at night. We enjoy the wonderful view of the city and beautiful surroundings from the roof of the palace. This palace was built by the King Singe Namagyal and still owned by the royal family. At present is this palace not occupied as the royal family resides in the other palace in stock.

Day 8: Leh Excursion: Spituk, Phyang
Today we start our day by visiting the monastery Spituk. Spituk monastery (15. Century) is 8 km from Leh and is situated on a hilltop overlooking the Indus. Spituk valley has an enormous statue of Kali whose face is unveiled once a year during the Spituk festival. This monastery also contains an ancient collection of masks. 135 yellow capped monks reside in this monastery. After the visit of Spituk we shall proceed to the Gompa Phyang which is a traditional monastery setting for a spectacular religious festival with masked dancing? There are 50 red capped monks residing here.

 

Day 9: Leh Excursion: Tikse, Shey
Today we start our excursion by visiting the monastery of Tikse. Tikse is one of the most imposing monasteries in Ladakh. The monastery has 12 stories, 10 temples, a nunnery and 60 lamas in residence. It contains numerous stupas, statues, tankhas, wall painting and a large pillar engraved with the teaching of Buddha. We can also see here a collection of Tibetan scripts. After the visit of Tikse we visit the village of Shey on the eastern bank of the Indus. Shay was the royal residence and was located at an important vantage point in the Indus valley. It has a large victory stupa which is topped with gold.

Day 10: Leh Excursion: Hemis
Today we visit the monastery of Hemis. The rich monastery of Hemis is the biggest in Ladakh and is perched on top of a pleasant green hill surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery. Every year a colorful famous festival of mask dances takes place in Hemis. This Monastery (Gompa) has an important library of Tibetan style books and an impressive collection of tankhas, the largest of which is displayed every 11 years.

Day 11: Leh Excursion: Stok
We drive today to the small village stok. The attraction of stok remains the palace of stok which is 200 years old. The palace and museum at stok is a showpiece for the royal tankhas, royal crown, dresses, coins, precious stones and turquoise head dresses.

 

Day 12: Leh Excursion: Alchir, Likir
In the noon we drive to Alchi through the exciting landscaping of Ladakh. Alchi has been declared as an UNESCO monument. The Monastery of Alchi is a large temple complex and is regarded as one of the most important Buddhist centers in Ladakh and a jewel of monastic skill. After the visit of Alchi we proceed to Likir. Likir contains the ruins of a Buddhist citadel impressively sited on a spur overlooking the Indus Valley. It served as a royal residence for several periods between 15th and 17th Centuries.

 

Day 13: Leh-Delhi (by air)
In the noon flight from Leh to Delhi. In the afternoon we visit Bahai Temple, also known as Lotus Temple which is built out of white marble and in the characteristic Bahai temple shape of a lotus flower. Bahai temples are 9 sided, symbolizing comprehensiveness, oneness and unity. We visit this unique building which gives the message of unification of the human race. The rest of the day at leisure.

 

Day 14: Flight to Home
Around midnight flight to home destination.

The state of Jammu and Kashmir is known all over the world for its beauty and charm. This state is a very large state, only slightly smaller than the British islands.

Day 1: Flight to India (Delhi)
Around Midnight arrival in Delhi. The cosmopolitan City and capital Delhi is the main gateway for travelers. You are met by an Indo Vacations representative and transferred to your Hotel.

 

Day 2: New Delhi
We will start our day with the sightseeing in Old Delhi. We take a Rickshaw ride parallel to the Red Fort through the old city and famous Silk Road and Silver Bazaar. Sightseeing of Old Delhi includes "Rajghat", the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated and Jama Masjid, the great mosque of old Delhi. Day 6: Jammu-Srinagar (by air)
In the morning arrive at Srinagar airport or railway station. Srinagar has been described by some visitors as the Venice of the East. This beautiful city was established by Emperor Ashoka some 2300 years ago. A unique charm of Srinagar is its 1300 or more houseboats, the floating little hotels on the edge of the Dal Lake. Upon arrival you will be met by our representative and transferred to the house boat. Rest of the day free for leisure to explore the beautiful surroundings in Srinagar.

 

Day 7: Srinagar
Today we start our sightseeing in Srinagar. Today we visit the famous Mughal gardens in Srinagar. In the Mughal gardens first of all you will view the Chashma Shahi. Chashma Shahi means the Royal Spring and is dedicated to the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. The spring waters are believed to have curative properties. After visiting the Chashma Shahi we visit the Nishat and Shalimar Mughal Gardens. Nishat is the larger of the two gardens and has an impressive plantation of Chenar trees on its highest terrace. Both the gardens are built on a symmetrical plan of central waterways with fountains dividing a series of gardened terraces. In the evening we visit the Shankaracharya Temple. This temple is located on a sharp hill, 1,000 feet high and houses a small temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was built in memory of the great Shankaracharya who came to Kashmir from Kerala to revive Hinduism. From the top of the hills, you would be able to have a panoramic view of the Kashmir Valley. After visiting the temple we drive back to our house boat.

 

Day 8: Srinagar-Pahalgam-Srinagar (about 194 km)
In the morning after breakfast drive to Pahalgam. Pahalgam is located about 97 km from Srinagar. On the way we pass through pine forest and also visit the saffron fields. Pahalgam is the popular hill resort of the Kashmir valley. Pahalgam is situated at a height of 7,200 feet. The flora and fauna is good and the scenery in Pahalgam is captivating. It is from Pahalgam that the pilgrims often take an Amarnath Yatra. In Pahalgam one can have a walk to Baisaren, which is about 2 km from Pahalgam. A small village set in pine and fir forest is pleasing and offers good view. After visiting Pahalgam we drive back to Srinagar.

 

Day 9: Srinagar
Whole day at your disposal. As per your wish optional excursions are possible.

 

Day 10: Srinagar-Leh (by air)

Day 02- Delhi - Srinagar (By Air)
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast transfer to domestic airport to connect the flight for Srinagar. Upon arrival at Srinagar airport meeting and assistance by our representatives later on transfer to Deluxe Houseboats Hotel. Lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon proceed for sightseeing. Shikara Ride on Dal Lake visiting floating and Vegetable Gardens. Also witness walnut woodcarving and Papier machine making demonstration. After visiting back to hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Deluxe Houseboats.

 

Day 03 – Srinagar
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast proceed for full day sightseeing. Visit Mughal Gardens, Nishat Bagh: - Nishat Bagh (Abode of pleasure) built by Asif khan brother in law of Jehangir in 1632 AD. Shalimar Bagh: - Shalimar Bagh (Abode of love) built by Jehangir for empress his wife Noor Jehan. After visiting transfer to hotel and have lunch. After having lunch visit Carpet-Weaving Factory. After visiting all these places back to hotel.
Dinner and overnight in Deluxe Houseboats.

 

Day 04 - Srinagar - Gulmarg (Approx 60 Kms and 2 Hrs.)
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast drive to Gulmarg. Gulmarg: - Gulmarg has one of the best Ski slopes in the world and highest golf course of the world with 18 holes. One can also have the view of Nanga Parbhat if weather permits. Lunch will be carried from the Houseboat. The view enroute from Tangmarg to Gulmarg is fascinating. One can also have a short trek up to Khilangmarg, which can be covered in about 3 to 4 hrs. Chair Lifts for mountain ride are also available.
Dinner overnight at hotel in Gulmarg.

 

Day 05 –Gulmarg
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast leave free for full day individual’s activities.
Dinner overnight in hotel at Gulmarg.

 

Day 06 - Gulmarg - Pahalgam (Approx 140 Kms and 4 Hrs.)
Early in the morning breakfast at hotel, after breakfast drive to Pahalgam (Valley of Shepherds) via Srinagar. Drive through Saffron fields; visit Awantipura ruins (1100 years old temple of Lord Vishnu built by King Awantiwareman). Drive through the Pine Forest and along Lidder River. The total distance of about 140 kms will be covered in about 4 hrs. On arrival at Pahalgam, transfer to hotel and have lunch. After having lunch leave for leisure.
Dinner and overnight in hotel at Pahalgam.

 

Day 07 – Pahalgam
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast leave free for full day individual’s activities.
Dinner overnight in hotel at Pahalgam.

 

Day 08 - Pahalgam - Srinagar (Approx 80 kms and 2-½ Hrs.)
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast drive back to Srinagar from Pahalgam. Upon arrive at Srinagar
Transfer to Deluxe Houseboats hotel and leave for leisure.
Dinner overnight in Deluxe Houseboats hotel.

 

Day 09- Srinagar - Sonamarg (Approx 83 kms and 2--½ Hrs.)
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast full day excursion to Sonamarg by car. The distance of about 83 kms will be covered about 2-½ hrs. Sonamarg lies in Sindh Valley streamed with flowers and surrounded by mountains. Sonamarg is also the base for some interesting treks to the high altitude of Himalayan Lake. After visiting these places back to Srinagar and transfer to hotel.
Dinner overnight in Deluxe Houseboats hotel.

 

Day 10 -Srinagar
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast leave free for full day individual’s activities and Shopping.

Day 11 - Srinagar - Delhi (By Air)
Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast transfer to airport to connect the flight for Delhi. Upon at Delhi check in at hotel and have lunch. After having lunch drive past the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial at the Rajghat and visit India Gate. After visiting back to hotel and take dinner. After dinner transfer to Delhi international airport to connect the flight for onwards destination.

Breakfast at hotel, after breakfast transfer to Delhi domestic airport to connect the flight for Leh, Ladakh. Upon arrival at Leh Airport, transfer to hotel. Spend rest of the day relaxing at hotel. In the evening, take a short walk around the colorful Leh Bazaar. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

 

Day 04: Leh-Monasteries
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy full day sightseeing tours around Leh to visit famous monasteries. You will visit today the Thiksey Monastery, the Hemis Monastery and the Shey Palace. Dinner and overnight at the hotel Leh.

Day 05: Leh-Chumathang-Tsomoriri (240 km)
Breakfast at the hotel, after that leave for Chumathang Stop. It is famous for hot water spring. The spring is known for medicinal properties. And people visit this place for medical bath. Later make a short drive to Maha Bridge, the main checking point to enter to this new area. Visit to the Sumdah Village. Continue your drive to Tsomoriri. The Tsomoriri Lake is a famous spot for birding or bird watching. It is the breeding ground for many species of birds like Bar Headed Goose, Crested Grebe, Brahmini Duck and Brown Headed Gull. Dinner and overnight at the tent.

Day 06: Tsomoriri-Korzok-Tsomoriri
After breakfast in the morning at the tent, visit Korzok Village. In the afternoon explore surroundings of the lake. Enjoy birding. Dinner and overnight at the tent.

Day 07: Tsomoriri-Mahe-Puga-Tsokar-Tanglangla-Leh
After breakfast at the tent, drive to Mahe Village. Continue your drive to Puga Valley. Then visit Tsokar enroute Polokongka Pass. Also visit Thugke Gompa. Later drive to Leh exploring enroute Tanglangla Pass. Upon arrival in Leh, transfer to hotel. Dinner and overnight stay will be at hotel.

Day 08: Leh
Breakfast at the hotel. Enjoy the thrills of rafting over Indus River starting from Phe to Nimu. Enjoy lunch on the banks of the Indus River. Visit the Leh Palace. In time return back to the hotel.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 9: Leh-Khardongla Pass-Leh (85 KM)
After breakfast at the hotel, go for an excursion to Khardongla Pass – the highest motorable pass in the world 5600 meter. At the top of the pass, you can enjoy the natural beauty of snow-capped mountains. In the late afternoon return back to the hotel. Spend rest of the day at relax. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 10: Leh-Delhi (Flight)
After breakfast transfer to the Leh Airport to board flight to Delhi. Upon arrival in Delhi, transfer to hotel for wash & change. Later you will be transferred to the International Airport to board flight to your home/onward destination.

Day 01 Arrive Delhi

Day 02: Delhi
After breakfast, full Day city tour of Old & New Delhi. Tours to Jama Masjid, the largest mosque in India - Built by Shah Jahan. Tours to the Red Fort, Visit Humayun's Tomb: built in mid 16th century this is an early example of Mughal architecture; Visit Qutab Minar, witness the India Gate, President House... The city tour ends with a visit to Laxmi Narayan Temple (Birla Mandir).

Day 03: Delhi-Leh (By Flight)
After breakfast transfer to Delhi domestic airport to connect the flight for Leh. Upon arrival you are met and transferred to the hotel. In the late afternoon take a very leisurely stroll or spend your time reading in the premises of the hotel.

 

Day 04: Leh
Today we drive upstream on the Indus valley to see Shey Thikse and Hemis. Its two days festival every summer has given Hemis a particular reputation with local and overseas visitors. Thikse which resembles a mini Potala Palace is yet another striking monastery of the Gelucpa order (yellow) hat. Shey Palace built as a summer residence for the kings of Ladakh in 1645 by Deldan Namgyal. Return to Leh.

 

Day 05: Leh
Visit the oracle in Sabu. The oracle exists in most villages in Leh and practices faith healing. Locals as well as tourists visit her to seek solace from ailments and distress. Oracles do play an important part in the life of Ladakhis and they are revered for their healing powers. Later visit Stok Palace museum, which has one of the finest collections of Thangkas in the world. The Palace itself is the residence of the Queen of Ladakh belonging to Namgyal Dynasty. Return to Leh. Rest of the day is at leisure.

 

Day 06: Leh
Drive to KhardungLa (5620 metres) the highest motor able road in the world. Khardungla is an all weather road is maintained by the Indian Army as its vital link to the Nubra valley, well known for apricots, the fast flowing Shyok River and also the double humped Bactriian camel. From the top of the Khardungla Pass one can have a panoramic view of some of the peaks in the region. Return to Leh. Afternoon is at leisure. Accommodation: Leh.

 

Day 07: Leh-Uleytokpo Camp
Follow downstream by taking an enjoyable drive from Leh to Uleytokpo via Nimmu the confluence of the river Indus and Zanskar joining it from the south. The important monasteries to see for the next 2 days are Likir, which has today the largest statue of Buddha, Alchi an UNESCO world Heritage monastery with stunning frescoes, Lamayuru with its spectacular moonscape is the furthest monastery on your route. An overnight stay in a picturesque village near Alchi facilitates visits to these monasteries.

 

Day 08: Uleytokpo Camp
Day is at leisure and walk to Ridzong monastery. The Ridzong monastery is located in a hidden valley and is known for its stricter rules. There is also a nunnery here.

 

Day 09: Uleytokpo-Leh
Return to Leh. Rest of the day is at leisure to pursue independent activities and roam the bazaars for shopping etc. The Tibetan SOS village in Choglamsar is good place to see the Tibetan community living in Ladakh with their handicraft center, school etc. The Ladakh ecological center is another worthwhile place to visit for books and a film show on the region and for local handicrafts. The Leh Palace dominating the town was the former home of the Namgyal dynasty. Leh is a bustling town in the months of July and August as it is thronged by foreign tourists and is well known for treks, hikes, expeditions, rafting and kayaking. The grounds overlooking the Leh palace also has a lot of activity the most exciting one being its unique polo tournament.

 

Day 10: Leh-Delhi
Flight early morning transfer to the airport for departure flight back to Delhi. Upon arrival you can proceed for your onward Journey/Programmed as per your schedule.
